GRIMSBY & CLEETHORPES OPEN DAY - 31st JULY 2011
Event Report
Getting up at 0530hrs on a Sunday morning has to be for something
really worthwhile. Still, the sun was shining so what could possibly go wrong.
Terry, Dave and myself met at Millhouses to load the hire van to go to
Cleethorpes - except the hire van was not delivered by the hire company so it
was slimmed down version of what we could take in cars. All loaded with Gazebo,
tables and a model each off we went.
Arriving at Cleethorpes at 0830hrs the sun was bright in the sky, not a cloud in
sight. The host Club was already setting up and Grantham arrived soon after.
More of our members turned up as well. In fact, there were ten of there by 10am.
The day was terrific, with tea, toilets, warm sunshine, a lovely lake to sail on
with a gentle breeze for the yachts and pleasant company what more could we
want. The day soon went and it was time to pack up around 4.30pm. Everyone was
tired and happy with a nice number of visitors to the park and plenty of
interest in our boats and yachts from the public. Getting home at 7.30pm was a
welcome treat with a lovely hot meal on the table.
Thanks to everyone who came along to support the Society.
